About Me – German-Speaking Celebrant for Bilingual Weddings in the UK
I grew up in Austria and have lived in Scotland for over twenty years. Today, I work with English-speaking, German-speaking and bilingual couples across Scotland and the wider UK.
Many of the couples I work with are bringing together different languages, families or cultural backgrounds within one ceremony. Creating a space where everyone feels genuinely included and emotionally connected is one of the things that matters most to me as a celebrant.
At my own wedding, my husband wore a kilt and I wore a dirndl — a small but meaningful reflection of how different traditions can coexist naturally without anyone having to leave part of themselves behind.
For me, bilingual ceremonies are never just about translation. They are about helping people feel recognised, understood and fully part of the moment — in whichever language feels most like home to them.
Experience, calm guidance and an understanding of people
Before conducting ceremonies, I spent many years leading international teams across different European countries. That experience still shapes my work today.
It taught me how to listen carefully, navigate different personalities and cultural dynamics, and guide people calmly through emotionally important moments.
For more than six years, I’ve been conducting weddings in Scotland — from intimate ceremonies to larger celebrations with guests travelling from different countries and backgrounds.
Over time, more and more couples began approaching me about ceremonies beyond Scotland as well, particularly couples looking for a German-speaking celebrant who understands both languages and cultural nuances. As a result, I now also offer symbolic ceremonies in other parts of the UK and, occasionally, elsewhere in Europe.
In Scotland, I am also authorised to conduct legal weddings.
